Safety ~ The SPEED is a low wing aircraft (wing area: 12.62 sqm) with a higher wing loading than the GR-912. The aircraft has the same ultra strong welded steel pilot protection frame coated with our latest zinc Epoxy protection system which has a twenty year conditional guarantee.
The Hughes Group of Companies have found over the past twenty years, in Australian Aviation, our welded steel frame offers the best possible protection to our pilots and passengers. Although damage may occur to some aircraft, with over 160 of our aircraft manufactured in Australia, we usually carry out only one major repair approximately every two years.

Why Refurbish?
Over time, your aircraft endures many hardships of flying in our beautiful

Refurbishing is a great idea; to check the fuselage structure is withstanding the harsh pressure, and to repaint and make your beloved aircraft look like new. Also, to clean out all of the dust that gathers over time in nooks and cranny's of the entire aircraft.
The ALW-GR 912 pictured (above and below) has been in the skies since 1996 and today (October 2009), looks very happy and brand new, with her new paint job and her windscreens replaced. Our owner can't wait to get back in the air!
Our report on refurbishing this aircraft found that there was no damage or loss of integrity to the fuselage structure of the aircraft. It is a true example of the strength the Australian LightWing aircraft range has to offer.
