APRIL 2010 - An airworthiness directive No 260210-SP....

Prior to next flight:

To all SP-2000 owners, if the axle bolt on the nosewheel is overtightened, it can cause the spacers between the side forks and the bearings to compress resulting in the wheel becoming loose on the axle resulting in shimmy or vibration on landing or takeoff,

Please check these spacers for signs of belling, Contact Howie or Nick for replacment steel spacers.

Australian LightWing Aircraft Design Philosophy

ALW SPEED

Flight handling: is by far the most important aspect of a safe aircraft and its here that all our aircraft including the new SP-2000, excel. From the docile 40 kts full flap stall to a comfortable 120 kt  cruise, the SP-2000 offers light controls combined with fully adjustable seats and pedals to suit all pilot, short or tall.

Creature comforts: In a flying school environment, your aircraft is not only your office but your classroom and recreational center. When you send a student solo, you need to be sure that he or she has been provided with an aircraft that has the maximum in safety, is comfortable and easy to operate and is sophisticated and state-of-the-art by world standards.

Safety: Sure, sitting under a glass bubble type canopy can offer a great view of the sky but when push comes to shove and what was looking like a good landing turns into catastrophy and you end up upside down, nothing will protect you and your co-pilot like a fully triangulated welded steel cage and that’s exactly what you have in the SP-2000 airframe.
Don’t you owe your flying companion… this level of safety and protection ?

Over the past twentyfive years in the Australian Aviation industry, we have proven beyond doubt that our high-tensile aluminium framed wings and welded steel fuselage frame combine to provide the best possible protection to our pilots and passengers. Our high wing aircraft are characterized by large strut braced, aluminum framed wings and an ultra rugged space frame fuselage whilst our new low wing utilizes the more efficient cantilevered wing with a corresponding increase in flying efficiency. Both high and low wing aircraft feature the welded steel fuselage that has kept over 200 of our owners safe and sound since 1985

Prior to purchasing some other make of aircraft, say, an import, ...do youreslf a favour and ask the sales agent what the delivery time might be on a major component like a wing. At Australian LightWing, we keep wings (and most major and minor components) on the shelf so delivery is normally a few days, Please make the comparison !

I have heard of cases where imported aircraft have been out of service for months wating for parts to come from a factory in Eastern Europe or the USA, meanwhile, you are left paying lease repayments on an aircraft you can not use, we are Australian with Australian backup, this also can means lower insurance premiums because we are quickly able to asses and repair your aircraft, well thats what we have been doing for the past 26 years anyway.

Having a laugh...
Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road. She stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride.

While resuming the journey, the Navajo woman noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Sally.
"What's in the bag?" asked the woman.
Sally looked down at the brown bag and said, "It's a bottle of wine. I got it for my husband."
The Navajo woman was silent for a moment then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder said,

"Good trade."
